Welcome to the

world under

Vancouver Island

We’re a collection of cavers whose area of

activity is on and in the karst of Vancouver Island

We explore, survey and study the many caves on Vancouver Island, and elsewhere. We all crave the underworld - some there for the adventure, but some are biologists, some are divers, some are photographers, adding dimensions to the activity. We document and study the underground environment through discovery, exploration and careful survey of new caves. We liaise with government agencies and resource companies on karst-related issues and are active in and support the Canadian Cave Conservancy. Caving is a mostly safe activity, but occasionally things don't go as planned. VICEG members are very active and involved with the Alberta-BC Cave Rescue Service.

Why join us?

We have members in most towns and cities on the Island. Caving is one of those many activities where mentorship counts. Learning - whether techniques or etiquette - is important and saves both the cavers and the caves in the long term. As well, caving is a fringe activity and there's a great value in comraderie with others who might share your own interest and grow your appreciation for caves and karst. On the Island or anywhere. And caving partners and access to caving trips and even more expeditionary explorations.
